FRANCK MULLER STORY

franck muller“Master of Complications” is the slogan of the famous watchmaking genius, Franck Muller. Born in Switzerland on July 11th 1958, to an Italian mother and Swiss father, Franck Muller soon developed a passionate interest in all mechanical devices, and in particular, a passion for watches.
In 1981, he entered the famous Geneva School of Watch-making. Gifted with exceptional technical talent, it did not take him long to gain an excellent reputation; Auction houses and collectors from all over the world sent him their treasures for restoration.
After a period dedicated to the restoration of watches, Muller began the creation of unique timepieces under his own name.
In 1983 he presented his first timepiece to the world: the Tourbillon. In 1986 it was re-released but with Jumping Hours. In 1987, he released the Tourbillon with a minute repeater, and in 1989, with a minute repeater and perpetual calendar.

franck mullerIn 1992, Franck Muller created a model that was given the exclusive title of “most complicated wristwatch in the world”, and established his own company, named Franck Muller Génève. A few years later, a new institutional and production site was founded.
1998 marked the beginning of a vast architectural venture by the company. This was known as “Watchland”, an extraordinary concept concentrating on the various stages in the making of a watch: conception, design, creation, prototype, research and development, stamping and assembling. Watchland is not only for the world of watchmakers but also invites the public to discover its wonders.
Another important step was made in 1998 with the first World Presentation of Haute Horlogerie, hosted in Watchland, an exhibition dedicated to the very best of watchmaking.
2001 was not only the year of the official inauguration of Watchland, but it also marked the release of Frank Muller’s first range of jewellery. The key elements of this collection were quality, originality and unique design. During the same year, Franck Muller launched two new brands;  Pierre Kunz and  ECW.
In 2002, to celebrate the brand’s tenth anniversary, it presented the Tourbillon Revolution, another collection that verified Muller’s title as the “Master of Complications”.
From the union of modern style and Swiss tradition the style of Franck Muller was formed, famous for its originality and unique design. From the use of tonneau cases, to coloured numbers (the Franck Muller Colour Dreams) to the Franck Muller Crazy Hours, with irregular appliqué numbers on the dial; they all display his uniqueness. Some of the most celebrated designs worth remembering are:  Franck Muller Casablanca, Franck Muller Long Island, Franck Muller Conquistador, Franck Muller Sahara, Franck Muller Master Bunker and Franck Muller Master Square.
